Jenna is continuing to do better. The email just came out that she is off the ventilator completely now. I believe it was Tuesday/Wednesday that they eased her off the paralyzing medicine. To my knowledge, she is no longer in critical condition. So, things continue to go well. Keep praying.

Jenna Netz - Update!

Please continue to be in prayer for Jenna Netz and the family. As of last night (Sunday, 8/18/08), they had put her into a state of medical paralysis to let the breathing machine take over. I received a call from Jeff, Eric and Pastor Mike later last night saying that her oxygen count is now increasing. That's a very good thing. However, she was still in critical condition as of last night at 10:30pm. I'll try to post any updates to this site.

Who thought up Purgatory?

Last night, Jordan asked the question, "Who came up with Purgatory?" So, I did a little research and you can see the result below. This is straight from the Catholic Encyclopedia at www.newadvent.org.
The faith of the Church concerning purgatory is clearly expressed in the Decree of Union drawn up by the Council of Florence (Mansi, t. XXXI, col. 1031), and in the decree of the Council of Trent which (Sess. XXV) defined:
"Whereas the Catholic Church, instructed by the Holy Ghost, has from the Sacred Scriptures and the ancient tradition of the Fathers taught in Councils and very recently in this Ecumenical synod (Sess. VI, cap. XXX; Sess. XXII cap.ii, iii) that there is a purgatory, and that the souls therein are helped by the suffrages of the faithful, but principally by the acceptable Sacrifice of the Altar; the Holy Synod enjoins on the Bishops that they diligently endeavor to have the sound doctrine of the Fathers in Councils regarding purgatory everywhere taught and preached, held and believed by the faithful" (Denzinger, "Enchiridon", 983).
Further than this the definitions of the Church do not go, but the traditionFathers and the Schoolmen must be consulted to explain the teachings of the councils, and to make clear the belief and the practices of the faithful.
So, there you go. If you want more information about purgatory as Catholics understand it, you can click here.
